A Northern California Student Driven Plan To Reach Out To Our World And Find A Greater Measure Of Humanity In Each Of Ourselves Along The Way
Our goal is to organize, plan for and facilitate two 24 Hour Relay's in the Northern California area in order to raise $250,000 to benefit the people of Haiti. Our tentative date for this is Friday May 14th and Saturday May 15th. 40 teams with 10 individuals per team from the Live Oak/Yuba City/Marysville and Chico/Oroville/Paradise areas will each commit to finding sponsors and raising a $2500 minimum for their team. Over a 24 hour period each of the 40 teams, one event occurring in Yuba City and another in Chico, will have a team member on the track (locations TBT) sprinting, running, or walking laps to earn sponsored funds from their friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. We will additionally be soliciting local corporations and businesses for monetary donations towards our goal and/or material goods or services that will be auctioned off. A fantastic variety of other activities and entertainment are being planned- so visit often to keep updated.
Current plan is to help establish 4 small camps, outside of the highly populated areas, each dedicated to a different demographic. 1) a camp for families 2) a camp for elderly 3) a camp for young women/girls under 18 as well as single mothers and 4) another for young men/boys under 18. Acceptance and residence in this camp would be a work based agreement where food and shelter are temporarily available in exchange for daily performed services towards rebuilding Port-Au-Prince (2-3 months).
A few other ideas are in the works but please offer your suggestions. The idea is to not necessarily go the conventional route by giving to an organization where funds and services are anything other than 100% directly given to and benefited by the people.

I am a graduate of the Educational Leadership and Admin Master's program at CSU, Chico and am an educator at heart. I am always interested in new opportunities for myself and others in finding and following paths towards unprecedented growth and diversification. Aiding in the expansion of business and education in the international/Latin America markets is of high interest to me as is bringing my expertise on human growth and dynamics.
